STUDENT RESOURCES

Your next step doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

Whether you’re considering college, military service, a skilled trade, an apprenticeship, or you’re still figuring out what’s next, we’ve gathered resources to help you explore your options and make informed decisions.

These are helpful external resources offered by other organizations — they are not Butterfly Scholars programs. Our program is Cap & Gown Assistance.

College / Financial Aid

FAFSA & FINANCIAL AID

What FAFSA is

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Completing it can help determine your eligibility for federal financial aid for college, career school, or trade school — including grants, work-study opportunities, and federal student loans.

Why it matters

States, schools, and some other financial-aid providers may also use your FAFSA information when deciding eligibility for their own assistance.

COMPLETING THE FAFSA IS FREE.

Military

EXPLORE MILITARY SERVICE

Military service is one of several possible pathways after high school. It can provide opportunities to develop job skills, pursue education, earn benefits, gain professional experience, and serve in a wide variety of career fields. It is not the right choice for every student — research the requirements, commitments, benefits, career fields, and differences among the services before making a decision.

Explore. Ask questions. Compare your options. Understand the commitment before making your decision.

Trades & Apprenticeships

TRADES + APPRENTICESHIPS

A four-year university is not the only pathway to a successful career. Skilled trades, technical education, certifications, and apprenticeships lead to strong, in-demand careers.

Apprenticeships can combine classroom and technical instruction with paid, supervised on-the-job learning — so you build skills while earning wages.
