OUR STORY
Butterfly Scholars was founded in Omaha in 2025 from a place of personal loss and a desire to turn that loss into something meaningful. At its core was a simple belief: support can change what feels possible.
For a young person approaching graduation, the finish line can represent years of work, growth, setbacks, and perseverance. But reaching that moment does not mean every student has the same resources or the same support behind them. Sometimes what stands between a student and an important milestone is not ability or ambition. It may be the cost of a cap and gown, access to the right information, someone who knows how to navigate the next step, or simply having a person willing to say, “I’m in your corner.”
Butterfly Scholars began by responding to one of those needs. Our first graduating class was served in 2026, and for the Class of 2027, our focus is clear: helping selected Omaha-area seniors cover the cost of their cap and gown so they can participate fully in the graduation moment they worked to reach.
We are building Butterfly Scholars intentionally, one graduating class at a time. What began through loss is becoming an opportunity to create connection, celebrate milestones, and make sure more young people know they do not have to navigate important moments alone.
MISSION + VISION
OUR MISSION
To help graduating students in Omaha reach the stage with dignity by removing the cost of a cap and gown as a barrier to celebrating their achievement.
OUR VISION
A community where no student misses the moment they worked for because of what it costs to participate.
